Food situation monitoring / May 2008
26 July 2008
During the period from January to April 2008, the food and nutritional situation of the populations remained marked by an unfavorable international context: continuous rise in the price of oil, soaring dollar, restriction of rice exports and general rise in prices. cereals (wheat, rice,).
At the sub-regional level, cereal deficits were recorded in Senegal and in most of the coastal countries.
Nationally, food availability and accessibility remain satisfactory notwithstanding specific cases in certain municipalities where a more critical situation is observed compared to the same period of the previous year.
