North Central Region
In the North Center region, the food situation for livestock was difficult during the second quarter of 2008 but is currently improving after the rains recorded in the last decade of June. At the end of June, the grazing availability was already good enough for the small ruminants which could exploit the regrowth. On the other hand, until the first decade of July large ruminants still had difficulty grazing. However, this situation remains normal for the region and the campaign set-up has been deemed good in the region. The return of transhumant herders to the region is scheduled for August.
SPAIs were rare throughout the year resulting in the closure of several fattening units. As for the watering of animals, it has not been a problem since the first rains in June.
