Result of the permanent agricultural survey 2003-2004 season

The purpose of this document is to collect the main data relating to Burkina Faso Agriculture. The emphasis is on comments and analysis. The form of presentation of the data allows, it seems to us, better use by the various users for the various needs of planning, national accounts, research,
etc.
The context of the execution of the EPA 2003 – 2004, however, was marked by:

• The dynamism of the Ministry in charge of Agriculture with a declared desire to fight against food insecurity in particular and against poverty in general;
• the strengthening of the actions of the General Directorate of Agricultural Forecasts and Statistics (DGPSA) with the aim of improving the acceptance of its missions by all partners;
• holding forums for sharing the results of the campaign with state partners, technical and financial partners and farmers’ organizations for better transparency.

The significant collaboration of national public services such as the Regional Directorates of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Resources (DRAHRH), and the financial support of development partners, in particular the Kingdom of Denmark, through the National Program for the Management of Terroirs phase II (PNGT 2), the European Union and the State have enabled the proper execution of the EPA 2003 – 2004.
We cannot ignore the fact that the 2003-2004 crop year was marked by the end of funding from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the EPA. Difficulties in mobilizing funding led to the suspension of the market garden survey.
This report was prepared by HPFB for the publication of the results of the 2003-2004 crop year.
